The Town of Payson is conducting a national search for its next Police Chief. Surrounded by the spectacular Tonto National Forest, this beautiful central Arizona community of more than 15,000 residents is located along State Route 87, midway between Phoenix and Flagstaff. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to experience a long and rewarding career as one of Payson’s most influential community leaders. The Town is seeking an accomplished professional who is inspiring, visionary and experienced in all aspects of police operations; including patrol, criminal investigation, administration, personnel matters, and emergency management. The most desirable candidates will have a track record of promoting transparency, community-oriented policing, collaborating with stakeholders, and building trust and comradery within a police organization. The Payson Police Department has a $5.1 million budget that supports 51.5 full-time employees, including 26 sworn personnel. This position requires seven years of experience as a fully commissioned police officer, including three years in a supervisory role or two years in a command position.
