We extend our congratulations to former Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller who has been appointed new MTA Chief of Police by The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
As reported on MTA.info, MTA Chief Safety Officer Patrick Warren has said, “John Mueller is everything the MTA needs to lead a growing police force that riders depend on to keep our transportation system safe. John’s experience in leading and developing police operations, and ability to effect positive change was what made him such a strong candidate. In his time at Yonkers PD, he understood the importance of community collaboration that built trust and helped reduce crime nearly in half in the third largest city in the state.”
Mueller started his career in law enforcement with the NYPD in 1992 before joining the Yonkers PD two years later as an officer in the 4th Precinct. During his decade at Yonkers PD, the city saw a 45% reduction in crime. The reduction was credited to focused community engagement by officers, a program pushed by Mueller during his time as Commanding Officer.
Congratulations, Chief Mueller, on your new appointment and on your exemplary career thus far and continuing commitment to public service.
