The recruitment efforts of Public Sector Search & Consulting paid off with the appointment of a new Chief of Police for the City of Wichita, Kansas. Veteran police officer Joseph Sullivan enters the Wichita force after 25 years of service in Philadelphia and 38 years in police service.
In an article from the Hays Post, City Manager Robert Layton was quoted saying, “Joe Sullivan has a proven ability to successfully lead and manage a world-class police department. I have every confidence that he is the right person at the right time to take on the challenging task of ensuring Wichita residents have trust in the integrity and transparency of our police department.”
The same article cites our involvement in the search for a chief. “The search process, led by Public Sector Search & Consulting, vetted 19 candidates for the position, including both internal and external candidates.”
KCUR reported that Wichita’s search for a police chief began in March.
A story in The Wichita Eagle quoted the incoming chief as saying, “I’m really looking forward to coming there,” Sullivan said in a phone interview with The Eagle. “I’m really excited. . . . I really like your town, and I can’t get back fast enough.”
Our recruitment efforts have led to another successful placement, this time in the heartland of Kansas.
