A national search is underway to attract an effective, forward-thinking, community-minded candidate to serve as the next Chief of Police for Oklahoma City, OK, a major U.S. city with 650,000 residents. The Oklahoma City Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency with 1,235 sworn officers and 451 professional staff who operate on a $268 million budget. The department has a state-of-the-art headquarters building and five strategically located substations. The Chief of Police is appointed by and reports to the City Manager and/or an Assistant City Manager, to address crime, disorder, and other community issues. The ideal police chief will have extensive operational experience that includes implementing successful crime reduction strategies. The next Chief will be a leader who fosters a community environment where community members feel safe. The Chief will be committed to ensuring a positive culture within the police department. The ideal candidate will develop community-based and 21st-century policing strategies that allow officers to build transformational relationships with community members. The next chief of the OKCPD will promote safety, emotional and physical wellness, and a sense of belonging among all Police Department employees through professional development, continuous training, and career growth. The approved salary range for this position is $165,411 to $252,856.
